I have much pleasure in certifying that Mr. R. M. JAMESON, MA, Cantab., has been an Assistant Master in this College for a period just exceeding nine years, and has been conspicuously successful; all the classes of which he has been in charge attaining a high standard of proficiency in the various English and Mathematical subjects, a few particulars are attached, the figures of which sufficiently attest the high standard of the instruction imparted.

(I am not in a position to allude to the results of the Examination held in June, 1896, as this was not under my supervision, but from what I know of the work in 1895 I have no reason to believe there was any deterioration.)

Mr. Jameson has been awarded a Personal Allowance of $240 per annum by the Government for knowledge of the Chinese language, written and spoken, and has for the last two years been engaged in teaching Book-keeping to special afternoon classes.

Mr. Jameson's method of teaching is characterised by a quite gentlemanly deportment, and the preservation of excellent discipline.

17th March, 1896.

GEO. H. PATESON WRIGHT, D.D., Oxon.

Head Master of Queen's College, Hong Kong. (Hong Kong Civil Service)
